Launch of Endeavour Art Gallery - Part 1

Endeavour Primary celebrated the opening of our art gallery on Wednesday, 24 July 2013. Our Guest-of-Honour was Mr Low Eng Teong, Deputy Director for Arts Education. Check out our visual narrative of the celebration :)
Primary 5C student-artists set up an 'iConstruct' corner to engage the guests in an art-making activity - to build a structure of ice-cream sticks without glue. This interactive platform generated dialogues between them and the guests.

EDP Welcome Party ushered our Guest-of-Honour and guests to our art gallery for the launch. Our Master of Ceremony for the day was Cunanan Chrissie Anne Santos from 5C.

Deputy Director was invited to give the opening speech after Mrs Pek's welcome address. I am touched by his message to our children, "You need not draw like famous artists. You may not be famous or draw like Picasso. That is not important. You are able to express visually what you feel, as you would if you write or sing or dance or act. Continue to believe in that, because that is something you can carry with you for life."

The letter ‘i’ on the canvas was crafted in the symbol of a child to symbolize the voice of every student. Deputy Director was invited to colour it to mark the opening of the gallery.

A token of appreciation was presented to our Guest-of-Honour. Our school also expressed our gratitude to our former principal, Mr Chia Soo Keng, for his strong support towards art education in EDP; and appreciation to our former art-coordinator, Mrs Faz, for making possible the gallery space in our school. These tokens of appreciation were artworks created by our student-artists from 2F, 5C, 5D and 5E.
